Art Crawl for Obama – Wed, July 23rd

Art Crawl for Obama
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
6-8 pm
Chelsea Art Galleries

On the evening of Wednesday July 23rd, we’re organizing a fun, informative event in support of Obama. A number of prominent Chelsea galleries will be open late exclusively for this event and art world experts will be on hand to deliver insights about the works on view and other aspects of contemporary art. For those who have never been to Chelsea, this is a perfect introduction to NY’s thriving contemporary art scene–and a chance to learn more than you would if you ventured to Chelsea on your own. Wine or beer and light hors d’oeuvres will be available. More details to come shortly but in the meantime, mark your calendars!

Email Veronica (veronica_roberts@moma.org) or Giovanna (Giovanna_Torchio@jackmorton.com) if you would like to get involved or have any suggestions for the event.

NY GO Evening Benefit – Wed. 5/21 at the Hudson Terrace

We’re feeling pretty good here at NY GO HQ (there’s no real HQ, but we are feeling good) with recent developments. Our members have been making an impactful difference across the country and we are excited about all the new, motivated members. We have been working hard, and it is about time we kicked back little – don’t you think?

Since our last event back in March at Pressure, we have had a bunch of folks asking about our next fundraising party. Well, we finally have a worthwhile answer — everything is set up for a great evening on Wednesday, May 21st and the details are all below. The good news is that we’re going to be at an awesome venue (Hudson Terrace) with a special guest performance from Ahn Trio – the downside is that we will have to cut off ticket sales at 400 people (although this will ensure you’re not getting bumped into all evening!).

Political bearing aside, Generation Obama events are a great time, with a unique opportunity to meet a diverse crowd. Ask anyone who’s attended one.

Event Details

· Date / Time: Wednesday, May 21st / 7-11pm
· Location: Hudson Terrace (click here and here for pics) at 621 W. 46th St.
· Special Guest Performance: Ahn Trio
· Tickets: Presale = $40 / Door = $50 / VIP Section (w/ reserved seating) = $100
· To buy tickets: http://my.barackobama.com/GOMay21 (your best bet is to buy before the end of the weekend – our events always fill quickly)

We’ll see you there! Please click on image below for full details.

Vote for Change Campaign Launch – Saturday May 10th

NY GO Members – This Saturday marks the launch of our Vote for Change National Campaign. The event detailed below will be the kick off for Obama for America’s national voter registration drive. Across the country our cohorts will be doing the same as us – helping to fuel an effort to produce a working maority for change in this fall’s general election. We will proactively change the traditional electoral maps as we continue to engage new voters and bring old voters back to the polls.

This is an important, unprecedented and nationally coordinated effort. Please attend the rally this Saturday and bring as many people as you can! Details are below and in the attached flyer.

- Time: Saturday, May 10 at 12:00 PM
- Location: Mother A M E Zion Church (140 W 137th St. in Manhattan)

Thanks to everyone who feverishly made calls to North Carolina and Indiana during last week’s GO call drive. The results speak for themselves. Your efforts were recognized and they made a huge difference.

We will be back to our normal weekly newsletter beginning next week.

Urgent Challenge to all GO members: GO Make a Call

NY GO Members – We are teaming up with our chapters across the country to help Obama for America reach it’s goal of 1,000,000 calls by May 6th. Generation Obama has set a goal to make 100,000 of these calls over the next 3 days. Please join the team in the next 48 hours to help Barack Obama win North Carolina and Indiana. (For those of you who have not made calls from home yet, you will find the online system extremely easy to use and efficient. Best of all, you can dedicate as much or little time as you want.)

And at GO, we always enjoy a little healthy competition:
- Top Caller (overall): will get a a copy of The Audacity of Hope autographer by Barack Obama
- Top Caller (each chapter): will be specifically noted in the press release following the event

To participate (see the attached flyer for further detail -> GO Make A Call Flyer)…
- Make Calls between now and end of day Monday
- Particpate by clicking here: http://mybarackobama.com/call (scripts included)
