“America is a land of big dreamers and big hopes. It is this hope that has sustained us through revolution and civil war, depression and world war, a struggle for civil and social rights and the brink of nuclear crisis. And it is because our dreamers dreamed that we have emerged from each challenge more united, more prosperous, and more admired than before.” - Obama
What is Generation Obama?
Generation Obama (“GO”) is a locally-based but nationally coordinated grassroots movement led by young activists with a simple goal: electing Barack Obama the next President of the United States of America through field work, political organizing and fundraising.

On the Campaign Trail…
Barack Obama is continuing to earn a significant share of Pennsylvania voter support in just the past few weeks. The margin is the slimmest it’s been thus far in Pennsylvania during the primary season. On Tuesday, over 10,000 Pennsylvania voters signed a letter supporting and acknowledging Senator Obama as the candidate who best understands their frustrations. Voters are showing confidence in Sen. Obama being the President who will stand up for them in Washington. On Monday, two Clinton supporters, Marcel Groen and James Burn Jr., defended Senator Obama against attacks suggesting he was “out of touch”. As campaign manager David Ploufee noted, Obama for America has “built the broadest campaign of ordinary people in the history of presidential politics”.
Looking ahead, Senator Obama has also recently taken a lead in Indiana polls. And a recent Gallup report shows Barack maintaining his statistically significant lead among Democrats nationally with a 51% to 40% margin.
In Other News
On Monday, Grammy Award winning artist John Legend showed his support for Senator Obama at the University of Pennsylvania (John’s alma mater). Over 500 undergrads were present as John Legend spoke to students about their ability to mobilize and become agents of change. He reminded PA students about the importance of making their voices heard next Tuesday. Many of you will recall John’s first show of support in the Will.i.am video, “Yes We Can.”

Getting Involved…
In Pennsylvania: We need to end strong! In the next week your support and assistance is paramount. There are so many ways for you to get involved in before the April 22nd primary.
1) From Home: Supporting the cause doesn’t have to take a lot of time or energy. You can make calls to voters in PA from home between 9am-9pm EST. The online system is easy to use, and provides a “click and read” call script to walk you through conversations. Follow this link to call from home: http://my.barackobama.com/page/contact/splash/callpennsylvania
2) Travel to PA: As the final weekend approaches, remember there’s nothing more effective than old-fashioned, grassroots, on-the-ground campaigning. NY GO’s on-the-ground action coordinator, Steven Newmark, is ready to assist in getting you setup. All you have to do is email snewmark@gmail.com and let Steven know (a) what dates you are available, (b) if you have a car and are willing to take others, (c) where in PA you would like to travel (if you have a preference), and (d) if you need overnight accommodations. It’s that simple.
There are also a number of trips planned to PA through other organizations which you can find here: http://www.trips.nyobama.com/
In New York: Join Generation Obama! If you’re interested in joining our team, we’re always on the lookout for great guys and gals to help out. Send an email to GO@NewYorkObama.com to let us know a little about yourself and what you’d like to get involved with (fundraising, events, publicity, on-the-ground, etc). You can also find this newsletter and more info about us on our blog: http://newyorkgo.wordpress.com/.
Anywhere in the US: There are GO groups all over the country, and there is always a way to get involved. Shoot us an email at GO@NewYorkObama.com and we’ll get you connected.
